Frequently Asked Questions
Where is the camp located?
Check back for the location of the camp Summer 2027.
How do I register?
Check back in Spring 2027 for instructions.
How should my child prepare for the camp activities?
Always an important question for kids on the spectrum! Some things to consider:
If your child uses an AAC device they are welcome to bring it along!
Your child should dress comfortably for 90 mins of non-stop action!Â
The children will be holding hands with each other during some of the square dances.
There will be amplified music (not too loud) and some hootin' and hollerin' (mostly by me!).
The children will be using props such as hats, leis, scarves, etc during dances.
There will be time for your child to show off their own dance if they wish! We can put on their favorite music track and let them be the star!
Should I help my child during the activities?
We encourage independent participation by the children whenever possible!Â
I will provide frequent verbal/visual prompts throughout the activities.Â
I will have some adult volunteers present to assist the children when needed.
Depending on the child's level of independence, parents/guardians may observe from another area of the room and provide help only when necessary.Â
There will be seats for adults/parents nearby.Â
What if my child has never followed dance/movement sequenced instruction before?
Mosaic Dance Camp is geared to all levels of ability!Â
The dance and movement sequences will be modeled slowly, first without music, then with music. Dances and other song actions will be repeated every day to reinforce learning.Â
If your child prefers to just observe during some non-preferred activities that's fine too!
My child often makes noises, stims or dashes around. Are you OK with these behaviors?
Noises and stimming are normal and fine! However, not all children are comfortable with amplified music and groups of people.  If your child’s very loud noises or restless behaviors are preventing others from focusing, then he/she may need to take a break and try again.Â
If my child is participating independently, do I still need to stay at the Camp site?
Yes. Please remain in the room with other parents/guardians.
Will there be a bathroom break?
Yes. Â There will be a 1O minute break during camp activities. Â
If my child finds it too difficult to participate and we have to discontinue the class before finishing Day 1 may I get a refund?
Yes, if the camp is not suited to your child we can refund your money. Try again next year! Â
